Big announcement from the SilveradoSierra team.

Change in SilveradoSierra.com Structure

Postby Austin [OP] » Nov 02 2011, 8:00pm

To the valued members of SilveradoSierra.com:

Today marks a special day for SilveradoSierra.com. Today we are pleased to announce to the community a change in the SilveradoSierra structure. As of today the forums will be owned and operated by the good folks at AutoGuide.com. Not to worry, I will continue to be involved with SilveradoSierra.com as I have done since November 2009. Think of this as a partnership that expands our community reach and increases the available knowledge. AutoGuide.com has the management skills and community building abilities that are essential to branching out and becoming a leading source of information on the web.

Other than some new administrators helping with the site maintenance and behind the scenes work, very little else will change. We have sung the praises of our outstanding moderators to the staff at AutoGuide.com. They will continue to uphold the same standards they always have in moderating the forums. I will still be involved with the website as much as time permits, the last thing I want to do is negatively impact our members experience on the site.

As I said, I am excited about this new direction as it will allow me to focus on my schoolwork and family, while putting the forums in the hands of a class organization that excels in running forums and keeping them technologically up-to-date.

If you have any questions, comments or concerns please feel free to let us know.

Hello everyone,

My name is Cayne Garcia and I’m the Forum Manager in charge of this transfer and your go to guy for AutoGuide.com. It’s never easy for someone to let go of a great community like this and I wish Austin all the best with everything. I am also very delighted that he decided to stay with us here, to help keep this community grow and move forward.

Autoguide.com runs about over 300 online Automotive related communities offering enthusiasts content and information to help them get the most out of their rides. This small company is run by a good number of car enthusiasts and with expertise in graphic design, programming, server administration, and community support. They are based Toronto, Ontario and you can get a list of communities they run by visiting Autoforums.com.

As Austin mentioned the leadership here will not change. Forum moderators will continue to make the day to day calls. I will be working alongside with the staff as a team in order to try and keep the forum running as smoothly as it was before. I would like to try and make this transition seamless to the extent where it did not seem there was a transfer of ownership.

With the migration of SilveradoSierra.com onto our servers, this will help the site run faster and with less bugs. The staff at Autoguide.com work very hard to make the site run smoothly and take care of any issues that may arise as quickly as possible.

I look forward to being a part of this community and to help make this site run as well as it always have, and keep the site growing into a very prosperous community.

So, I think I'm done blathering on for now! But I'd love for people to ask questions and express your thoughts, so please free feel to do so! Thank you all for reading all this and for making SilveradoSeirra.com the amazing place that it is! :)

Looking forward to meeting and working with you all.

Cheers,
Cayne

Um, the word FAIL comes to mind.

...Only being playful, welcome! ;)

I think I know as well as anyone running forums can be a total fun sucker! I've run a couple for guitar players for ~7 years now. Dealing with users on a 'good' forum is pretty easy, the other elements (mostly spammer cha-cha) can totally make a person look for a new hobby.

All that being said, I hear Austin and respect his desire for 'other' things in his life. I can only hope the expressed continuity will remain as I've seen more than one privately operated community become a train wreck in a transition like this.

Fingers crossed and with the best of intensions, good luck! :)
