When posting a video from youtube, many of you post a quick link to the video you wish to share. While this works fine, there is a better way to post videos without taking users away from our site. Not only does this support the idea that we have exceptional content here rather than somewhere else on the web, it draws the attention to the topic in which the video is posted in. Please help us increase our exposure on the internet and draw attention to our site rather than away from it by using the provided [ youtube ] [ /youtube ] tags.

How to post a youtube video

1. Find the video on youtube.
2. Make note of the URL. (ie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5AG2KbD5ko)
3. Using the full web address of the video, place the [ youtube ] [ /youtube ] tags around it.
   Like so:
   

   Code: Select all

   [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f5AG2KbD5ko[/youtube]

4. Observe that when you post this code, it results in the youtube video being displayed directly on the page.

Good idea... In so many different ways. Seeing the preview picture makes the link that much more enticing. Preventing our friends from wondering off.
Your example made me want to see more classic Chevy commercial and also to see if I could make one of those youtube links.

Sounds good - but I couldn't get it to work. Even the above examples in this topic show blank boxes.

That's unusual.. I'm presuming your able to go to youtube and see video on the YT.com site?
Your audio and video media reader is up to date on your computer?

I can see both videos.

Sometimes I need to verify "it's just me!" In this case, I know my employer blocks YouTube, so I will try it from home to see if I get the same results everyone else gets.

I've changed the way youtube videos are posted. Too many people were having trouble posting videos using the Video ID so the youtube tags will now accept the entire URL instead. Please re-read the first post for clarification.

Thanks Austin, I got it to work the old way but it did take a few to figure it out.
