I was reading an article in Car and Driver magazine about the location of assembly and domestic parts content of various vehicles. How sad is this (2010 data):

SILVERADO: 61% US/Canada part content. 214,842 assembled in US (Ft Wayne) and 162,141 in Mexico
SIERRA: 61% US/Canada part content. 89,837 assembled in US (Ft Wayne) and 80,594 in Mexico

Contrast that to:

TOYOTA TUNDRA: 80% US/Canada part content. 107,959 assembled in US (San Antonio)

Really? Toyota is more American than my Sierra. **SIGH** :oops:

ran across this at our local walmart.. a F**d Windstar converted into a truck.... thats correct a truck.

So once again my truck got me in trouble.. This morning in the parking lot at school i was presenting my straight pipes to a few skeptics. After agreeing that they were in fact, bad ass, The parking lot security gaurd rolled up in her golf cart and told me she was going to write me up. Being the smartass 17 year old I am as she drove away I stood on it, and then quickly turned my truck off and closed the door. So while im sitting in the office wondering what i did wrong, the principle calls me in, and tells me what would have been a simple office referral turned into what is technically a federal offense. In the back of my truck the gaurd noticed an empty shell casing, and after a search of my tool box found a box of 30-06 rounds. Long story short I am in ISS (in school suspension) on pending charges. I am an avid deer hunter, and i go to the lease just about every weekend. Give me a break, im not waving a glock around.

i just want to say, we have only owned our 2011 GMC for about a month now and one of the best mods ive done to date is the rear wheel liners. What a bunch of crap that GM dont make this standard for all trucks. it really gives the truck that finished look. they were only $100 and about an hour of my time to put them in but its the point of it all.. $42,000 for a truck an i have to go spend $100 to finish building it for GM.

ive read the ideas that it "could" possibly premote rust of corrosion or whatever from trapping road grit but really if you clean your vehicle some what regularly this really shouldnt be a prob...

anyway im done venting. comments?

Convince me not to buy a 2011 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 4x4 Big Horn with the Hemi V8.

Some back story: I went into the dealer to look at the radio face plates on the jeeps they had on the lots as we had my wifes replaced and I could have sworn it was still pulling away from the dash after the replacement, but didn't want to throw a fit if they all looked the same. Well, they all looked the same :mrgreen:

But while I was there I decided to take a look at one of the Dodges. Took a test drive and really like the power of the 5.7 liter Hemi as well as the ride quality. Even the transmission seemed to shift nicer (hard to tell in 1/2 mile of driving). I tend to have a heavy foot and the Dodge just seemed more eager.

Don't get me wrong I like my truck! Picking up the Dodge would just basically raise my payments by 10 dollar a month. It would also add another year of payments and I would need to come up with the taxes and insurance (which I don't really want to spend money on again). The dealer is doing the full court press to get their numbers in by the end of the month/year.

Was just curious what your CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts were? Not really interested in.......it's a Dodge.... I know that, but I'm not really a brand loyal kind of person. I go with what's a better product for my money not because "it's what i've always bought." I do however try to buy American when I can and was slightly ticked off that my truck was put together in Mexico....but those are the times we live in I guess.
