Bed Rail Protectors

Outfitting my Sierra - Bed Rail Protectors

by jepics on Sep 22 2010, 7:25pm

I completed my search across the internet yesterday, reviewing the offerings of Bed Rail Protectors from Bushwacker, DeeZee, Wade, EGR, BAK, Stampede/Rail-Topz, and GM (OEM).

The options included (my choices in bold red):
  1. Surface: (smooth, textured, ribbed, OEM pattern)
  2. Color: (black, tan, gray, camoflage)
  3. Material (ABS, Aluminum, Chrome)
  4. With or without stake pocket holes
The vendors I looked at included (no recommendations either positive or negative):
  1. https://www.partswebsite.com/gmpartscheap/
  2. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/
  3. http://www.truckchamp.com/
  4. http://www.truckaccessorizer.com/
  5. http://www.thepartsbin.com/
  6. http://www.buyautotruckaccessories.com/
I also spoke with a local retailer to find out if he had them in stock (yes) and got a price ($90) for the EGR - he didn't have the Bushwacker or DeeZee in stock.

    Sample Prices
  • Wade $69.99
  • EGR $78.62
  • DeeZee $90.95
  • BAK $75.05
  • Stampede $64.99
  • Bushwacker $94.95
  • GMC (OEM) $92.65
I decided to go ahead and buy the Genuine OEM Bed Rail Protectors from an eBay vendor who supplied them for $77.50 delivered ($55+$22.50 shipping). They come with the stake pocket holes pre-cut and also provide inserts to close the pockets. He has a couple more available.

Note that installation instructions recommend temperatures over 70 degrees for best results - both the piece and the bed rail should be at least 70 for the glue to work properly. If you plan to order, and live in an area where weather is starting to get colder, get 'em done quick!

That's all the progress I have to report today.
