Dodge ?

Now that I have your attention.....

Convince me not to buy a 2011 Dodge Ram Crew Cab 4x4 Big Horn with the Hemi V8.

Some back story: I went into the dealer to look at the radio face plates on the jeeps they had on the lots as we had my wifes replaced and I could have sworn it was still pulling away from the dash after the replacement, but didn't want to throw a fit if they all looked the same. Well, they all looked the same  But while I was there I decided to take a look at one of the Dodges. Took a test drive and really like the power of the 5.7 liter Hemi as well as the ride quality. Even the transmission seemed to shift nicer (hard to tell in 1/2 mile of driving). I tend to have a heavy foot and the Dodge just seemed more eager.

Don't get me wrong I like my truck! Picking up the Dodge would just basically raise my payments by 10 dollar a month. It would also add another year of payments and I would need to come up with the taxes and insurance (which I don't really want to spend money on again). The dealer is doing the full court press to get their numbers in by the end of the month/year.

Was just curious what your CONSTRUCTIVE thoughts were? Not really interested in.......it's a Dodge.... I know that, but I'm not really a brand loyal kind of person. I go with what's a better product for my money not because "it's what i've always bought." I do however try to buy American when I can and was slightly ticked off that my truck was put together in Mexico....but those are the times we live in I guess.

I hate to say it but the new Dodge trucks are pretty nice. Good power and lots of comfort qualities now. My cousin has an 2010 and it has been a good truck. And yes, it is a runner. All comes down to what you like better. They both have good warranty so go for what you want.

But no more SS family..... ;)

I planned on getting a Dodge, but after comparing the quality, fuel mileage, dealer service, and price, I wound up with a Chevy.

I actually like the styling of the Dodge better, and I'm a sucker for a hemi. Just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on the dodge... especially with them only getting 12-14 mpg.

BTW... I've had 2 Dodge pickups in the past - a 74 and a 90 Power Wagon. Both were GREAT trucks. I've had 4 Chevy pickups - a 55, a 72, a 99 Suburban, and my 2010 Silverado. (There was even a 88 Ford in the mix for 10 years!)

D**** only has a 5-speed tranny; GM has a 6-speed.
GM gets the best fuel economy.
GM has a better warranty.
Nobody questions the longevity of GM trucks- both F*** and D**** have had major issues in the past with critical components.

C'mon- sleep it off, you'll get over it. We forgive you :D.

Fact: dodge gas trucks are the shittiest trucks on the road. They fall apart, literally. Get on a dodge forum, or better yet the cummins forum. They admit to the trucks falling apart around the damn motor. It's almost embarrassing. I WOULD drive a Ford gas truck before I drove a dodge gas truck if I was forced to pick between the two.

Out of all of the trucks, I like the look of the Ram the best. It really depends on what your needs are though. If you keep cars for 2-3 years then trade, the Dodge may not be that bad of an option. But if you plan on keeping your truck for a long time, then I would keep the Silverado. If you need more power then consider either looking at a 6.2 Silverado or a Ford. My dad buys Chargers for his work and he has been disappointed in the reliability. Jeep is another brand that really suffered with their quality/reliability for a few years.

If you really are wanting more power then consider either looking at a 6.2 Silverado or even a Duramax!! Still both get better gas mielage than that hemi and look way wayyy better with a nice bowtie included for free

humm dodge.. really? i guess the fact that in 2008 they had to put lifetime warranty just to get people to buy them speaks of their crappy quality. i have said to many many people.. chrysler just dont care about fuel efficency, dependability, or resale value.. ever heard the phrase "if you go MOPAR you wont go far?"

Dodge Ram 1500 reliability score of 5.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

oh and the worst in class...... not just in trucks. dodges 5.7L Hemi is the WORST rated fuel rated V8 on the market.

To be honest, I'm shocked you had the stones to post this on a Silverado/Sierra forum. Then again, you are just making the Silverado's and Sierra's look that much better.
