Chevy released the HP numbers for the 2012 ZL1: 580 HP, not the 556 HP that was expected. All I have to say is... MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Nothing in F***'s arsenal can come close to that! To steal a line from Rocky, "It's going to eat lightning, and crap thunder!"
Apparently, all they did for the motor was take the S'charged 6.2 out of the CTS-V, and add a low-resistance intake (yes, those things work!), and tweak the supercharger. Here's the full article: http://www.foxnews.com/leisure/2011/09/09/2012-chevy-camaro-zl1-packing-580-hp/?test=faces

My buddy just bought a 2012 GT500.... Looks like I'm going to have to throw down on a ZL-1, I just hope they don't demand a huge markup over MSRP...
Then again... making an SS have 599 reliable horsepower is pretty easy...

The ZL1 is a beast. I have had the opportunity to see one in person and hear it run. It is easily the most powerful production Camaro ever produced. I had a chance to bid on being able to drive it but that got way out of price rage quickly. I think the winner bid like $1000 and that was only to drive it in the parking lot at the Oshawa plant not like you could open it up and test it out.

That’s one Bad Ass Camero! I can just imagine how high the insurance premiums will be on it.
