Ode to the Small Block V8

Permanent Linkby starspangled6.0 on Nov 08 2011, 5:26pm

Chevy is celebrating it's 100-year anniversary soon. To commemorate this occasion, let's take a look at one of Chevy's best contribution to the automotive (and truck) world: the Small Block V8. Motor Trend does a nice write-up: http://www.motortrend.com/features/consumer/1111_small_block_chevy_v8_through_the_years/

What amazes me about this line of engines is that the same basic design is in place, 50 years since its inception. And it still works; a beautiful blend of power, torque, and efficiency. It's still going strong today- reportedly, an new generation will debut in the upcoming C7 Corvette. Long live the small block!!!

That 302 was a mighty fine engine. Some critisized it because it didn't capatalize on getting avery available pony but the strategy behind it's design was to make it last through multiple racing seasons. It was one of the most durable V8s ever built.
Marine because.

You don't even need to watch this video- just turn up the speakers, and listen to the monster 7.0 sing it's All-American song.
