Camaro ZL1 First Test Video!

Permanent Linkby starspangled6.0starspangled6.0 is online! on Feb 07 2012, 8:43pm

3.8 Seconds to 60.
Under 12 seconds to the 1\4 mile.
1.00g at the skidpad.
580 HP.
556 LB-FT. of torque. All yours for only $55,000.

I might just love this car more than the almighty Corvette ZR1. What Chevy has been able to do, in a 4000 lb. car, is simply mind-boggling. Feast your eyes and ears on the new Camaro ZL1:

I have great respect for the muscle cars of yore, but the stuff GM is pumping out right now is just ridiculous. Those numbers from the ZL1 borderline on supercar territory, and it's just a $55K machine. Plus, we all know the Camaro is a fat pig, so I think it's just a flipping miracle they did what they did, since they had all that weight to deal with.

Would rather have the new GT 500 rated over 600 hp! Better looking in my opinion too.

I wish GM would bring back the Copa version and loose about 500 lbs. Lighten the body with carbon fiber and track ready mount points for a roll cage. Also strip out all the driver comfy stuff like the nav system and power everything. Just make us a pure driver's car!

GM almost has it right with the independant read suspension. Loose about 500 lbs and kiss the tired old stang goodbye forever!
Marine because.

The new GT500 has 650 HP, to be exact. It would be a really close race on a track, though, since Mustangs can't get the power down with those crappy live axles. The ZL1 is a in a league of it's own, I'm afraid.

Not really sure why you'd match up a ZL1 vs. a GTR, but they did.

What a monster! It almost makes spending an extra $60k for the ZR1 sound silly...

That is really sharp! My girlfriend has been shopping for a camaro, but she is a crappy driver and scares me. I hope she doesn't see this one.
