Mounted my Clay Pigeon Thrower to my hitch today

Permanent Linkby Austin on Sep 01 2010, 5:30am

My family and I enjoy camping. One of the activities we participate in is Clay Pigeon shooting. So I got creative and adapted a clay pigeon thrower to be able to mount it to my hitch. Before, the poor quality design of the thrower made it very difficult to use and never stayed staked into the ground like it was supposed to.

We're going camping this weekend so I'll let you know how it works out!

Thanks! I think it turned out pretty good. As you've probably guessed, the yellow part is the trap thrower that I purchased pre-assembled from WallyWorld and the metal part is the part I welded up. I designed it to extend just past the tailgate when it is down and be at a comfortable height for someone to be able to sit on the tailgate with a box of clays at their side.

Test fired it a few times without a clay and it seems to work pretty good. Nice and stable.

Looks like a winner, person could slide that into receiver on ATV or UTV and take it anywhere.
Thank you

Well we're back from camping and I must say this thing was sweet! It was so much fun. I backed up my truck to nice a little cliff and we launched clays over the edge of the cliff. This little thrower contraption worked so well I had my 4 year old son sitting on the tailgate pulling the string. "Daddy, when you're ready just say PULL, okay?"
