Dove Opener Trip!!!

Permanent Linkby Mudduck on Sep 05 2012, 9:41pm

Well, we went out to Cibola, AZ this past weekend for the dove opener. It's only about 225 miles from my house so not that long of a road trip. Packed up the quads and all our gear in the back of the truck and trailer. It took about 3 1/2 hrs. and a half a tank to get there.

We stayed in a little "no" bedroom house, a studio of sorts, that had a trailer on site too. All big enough to sleep the ten people we had. We BBQ'd some sh!t up and hit the sack early. 4 o'clock comes fast.

There were thunderstorms that hit the week before and moved most of the birds out. We really had to hunt 'em hard. Staking out tree lines and flushin' fields. A few hrs later it payed off. We found a great spot they were cruisin' over consistantly and had opportunity after opportunity . :D We all got our limits, even an 11yr old kid that was on his first dove hunt!!

We finished out the weekend and headed back home successfully. :D

I know this is more of a hunting blog, but it was the good ole' Chevy's that got us there. 8-)

Finally Got Mileage Results

Permanent Linkby Mudduck on Jul 15 2011, 12:06am

I recently made a couple of trips down to the San Diego area for work so I thought I'd take my time and keep my foot off the gas. 426 miles and 20 gals of gas = 21.3 mpg. I was cruzin' at 2000 rpm's pretty much all flat land. Not bad. ;) I have another trip up to Pismo Beach this weekend so I'll see how it does with some hilly areas.
