So, I found these nifty little vehicle specific mounts that handily mount your GPS, sattelite radio, phone, or just about anything else you want onto your dash. Finally! A way to mount this stuff so that I don't have to use 3M tape or screws and mess-up my nice interior!
I went onto Crutchfield's website and found two that they said would work with my '09 Silvy 1500. Now, the choice was between one that had a flat plate to mount my accessory to, or one with a ball joint. I liked the look of the flat plate one better and I ordered it. A few days later it came and I went to install it. Didn't work! It's made for the "deluxe" dashes (LTZ), not my simpleton one in my LT. So I called Crutchfield and told them my dilemma. They promptly shipped me the ball joint version, which was $10 more, and ate the difference in cost.
Today, that one showed up on my porch. I take it out of the box and examine the instructions on Pro.Fit's website. I'll be a monkey's uncle...THIS one is ALSO for the LTZ dash, not mine. UGH! I called Crutchfield again and described this week's trouble. Their response? "Hmm... Our website doesn't offer a difference between the sub-models. That's a problem." Hopefully they'll add the sub-model option now. Anyways, they emailed me ANOTHER return label and will refund my card once they get the mounts back. The rep told me they don't offer any other mounts for the Silverado and that I'd have to order it direct from them. What puzzles me is that when I ordered the mounts, they were drop-shipped from Pro.Fit anyways. Regardless, I must say I am still very satisfied with the service I get from Crutchfield. They actually care about their customers (or at least they're good at giving the impression).
So here I sit, waiting for Pro.Fit to send me the correct (fingers crossed) vehicle specific mount. Just a heads up for anyone else that may want one: Order it from Pro.Fit directly. They have all of them sorted by sub-model on their site, complete with directions for installation.
