So once again my truck got me in trouble.. This morning in the parking lot at school i was presenting my straight pipes to a few skeptics. After agreeing that they were in fact, bad ass, The parking lot security gaurd rolled up in her golf cart and told me she was going to write me up. Being the smartass 17 year old I am as she drove away I stood on it, and then quickly turned my truck off and closed the door. So while im sitting in the office wondering what i did wrong, the principle calls me in, and tells me what would have been a simple office referral turned into what is technically a federal offense. In the back of my truck the gaurd noticed an empty shell casing, and after a search of my tool box found a box of 30-06 rounds. Long story short I am in ISS (in school suspension) on pending charges. I am an avid deer hunter, and i go to the lease just about every weekend. Give me a break, im not waving a glock around.

Re: Are you kidding me.
Unfortunately - the line has to be drawn somewhere when it comes to schools. There are people still alive now that were in a "rifle club" at school and used to take a gun and ammo on the bus with them in the morning for target practice after school - that was less than 40 years ago. Now, having a few shells on school grounds is just as serious and controversial as blowing a .081 in a breathalizer.
My suggestion - get a lawyer, there is a chance the search of the truck could be considered unlawful. I won't get into the controversial part of this - just that these are the times that we live in, history dictates our future. ** Edit - I did quite a bit of searching around on this because I was curious, the FEDERAL law does not prevent ammo from being on school premises yet, it is a matter of written regulation from the school board and how they choose to discipline it along with any state laws. Check your school handbook - see if it defines ammo as a weapon. Last edited by Z71Silvy on Jan 04 2012, 2:10am, edited 1 time in total.
Re: Are you kidding me.
Having once been the same "smartass" I eventually grew up. if you hadnt revved up those straight pipes again we wouldn't be talking. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned they say and that is increasingly true for a woman in power/uniform...
I graduated in 98 and we were allowed to bring our hunting rifles to school as long as they stayed in a locked vehicle... Good luck...
Re: Are you kidding me.
Wish you the best of luck, Trent. Doesn't sound like an easy situation to get through. Where do your parents stand?

Re: Are you kidding me.
My parents aren't happy, nor surprised. After a stern talking my dad told he would take care of it. I guess ill see what happens tomorrow!
Re: Are you kidding me.
I have a friend who was suspended because there was a knife in a tackle box in the back of his truck. They get pretty crazy about stuff like that these days.
Re: Are you kidding me.
I hope the school doesn't pursue this much further than a suspension from classes...best of luck to you.
You really have to watch out these days, too many people are sensitive to weapons. I used to carry around a large buck knife in high school, never thought it would be a problem (only around 7 years ago), now school boards would have me branded a criminal.

Sadly, Crap like THIS happens:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2012/01/04/police-shoot-kill-armed-teenager-in-texas-school/?test=latestnews So every little thing is taken to extremes these days. Its hard but for every little thing that is harmless, there is some messed up person/kid who is gonna make it a bad thing. 2001 Silverado Z71

Re: Are you kidding me.
Ther is no federal law banning wepons on school grounds. Those are state and local laws. Although that doesn't mean they make any more sense.
Re: Are you kidding me.
