Fender Bender in my new truck
So I am backing out of a parking space at the grocery store and am just at the point of putting the truck in forward and leaving when I see a woman in a 2011 Ford Escape backing out of a space toward my rear quarter. I leaned on the horn with both hands, but this is Florida the land of the old and as she said "I didn't hear it". I'm ticked off big time.

It finally stopped raining when I was home so that I could take some photos of my truck with the backflip on it. I have to say that it was more than I had hoped for and I can not fault it in any way.
This is what it looks like: With the gate open: 1 panel flipped: 2 panels flipped: All panels raised: Supporting Rods: Locked: Unlocked: 3 Comments Viewed 870 times Ordered a backflip f1 for $770 shipped
Got a great deal on a bakflip f1 (the fiberglass top end cover) for $770 shipped to Florida. Got this deal online from svcustoms.com who were willing to make a smaller profit to sell a cover. They all just take the order and the factory in CA ships the cover so I just made a lot of calls and emails one morning. I'll let you know what it looks like with some picks when it shows up and I put it on.

So I bought a Sierra last week and immediately took it on a road trip to a cabin in Georgia on the TN and NC border. Living in Florida that gave me some good highway miles, some mountain miles and some city miles too. Well loving every minute I found that my MPG averages 18 and that makes me pretty happy.
Oddly enough I sold a 5 month old GMC Terrain because I was not getting the 22/32 MPG promissed the way that I drive, I found myself in the 21 MPG area. I figured it out to be my driving, 80 on the highway and first out of the gate. I also put on larger wheels and tires instead of the low rolling resistance tires that are standard on the vehicle. Here's the good news for me... I bought my Terrain on Jan 3 when they had a $1,500 GM rebate plus $750 in a USAA Bank rebate (ex military you should know about this), and I got a good price bringing my Terrain to $24,500 including the dealer fees, I did have to pay the sales tax on the difference between that and the large SUV that I traded. Well this is unheard of but when I traded it for my truck it brought $24,500 wholesale. Crazy. I got a really nice price on my Sierra as a GM dealership employee and I am a big guy so I fit much better and I am very happy to be back in a full size truck. It only cost me $1,000 plus accessories and has made me very, very happy. I can not tell you how happy I am to be on this board with a truck again. 1 Comment Viewed 543 times
