Hacked exhaust

With the help of Chasmanian and Howzitbra I went with the stealth look of the tailpipe too. I couldn't be happier either, well that is untill I replace the stock muffler with a Cherry Bomb glasspack! Thanks again for the help guys and loving it and so does the Mrs. so that is always a plus!

P.S. Went with the Lenox 24TPI blade for my Craftsman 19V sawzall and sprayed the pipe with WD-40 and resprayed at the bottom of the pipe and was done in about 2 minutes tops, if that! Like a hot knife through butter!

UPDATE: I got rid of the stock muffler this week! I remembered a muffler shop a co-worker who is from this area recommended. So I checked them out. For $75 they cut off the stock muffler and welded up a glasspack for me. It isn't a Cherry Bomb, it's an of brand but still sounds great! Really does have that classic truck sound. On take off it sounds loud but does not have the resonance that I had in my old truck with the Flowmaster. Once it gets up to cruising speed it really mellows out. Seems like just the right amount of noise for me. Sounds like a truck now! I'll update again when I get home from work with a picture of it.

Camera Chaos

Permanent Linkby swandc on Aug 20 2011, 3:57am

So back toward the end of June or beginning of July, I ordered a back up camera from a company off Amazon. Finally after about a week, the UPS guy brings my new toy! Was busy with work stuff for almost a week so really didn't get to look at it let alone work on it. I finally got to start looking it over and try to un-code the instructions that came with it, yes you read correctly I was looking over the directions. Most of the time I just dive head on and start working on something till I get to that brick wall! LOL Still really didn't do any good though. As I was doing a dry run with all the parts to see where everything would go, I noticed something wrong, something that just didn't seem to be there. Oh yeah, THE POWER CORD FOR THE CAMERA!!! UUUUGGGGHHHH! How did they forget to supply the other end of the power cord to make the camera work!? I had the plug on the chasis extension cable, but not the end that plugged into that from the engine compartment. So, I called the company, they tell me I need to call the manufacturer, they don't carry the individual parts to just send out what I need. Called the manufacturer, they confirmed I was missing the part. But they said I need to call who I ordered it from and either get refunded or exchange. REALLY!!!??? Is this the fun I'm going to have with this? As it turns out, oh yeah this is how it's going to go. After that call, I call the company back that I ordered it from. Ok, no problem you confirmed you're missing a part, want to return or exchange it I was asked. I sure didn't order it just to toy around with ya I'm thinking, I'd like to exchange it was my response. Ok, no problem, we'll do up the exchange request and you'll be getting a shipping label in email from UPS to return it. Call us back with the tracking number and we'll get the new one sent out so you don't have to wait longer. Sounded awesome to me!:) But that was my bad, maybe sounded too awesome and it was. After 3 weeks and a number of calls, finally got the shipping label. What a pain in the rear that has been, should go smoother now right? Not, I called them back after sending it out and wouldn't ya know it, my call was answered by someone new that had no idea what I was talking about and could find a light switch on the wall let alone any notes in a computer system about any previous calls! Finally after several painful minutes, feel like I made some headway. After about a week from that call and not having any emails saying the new box had been sent, yet another call. Got put on with some that at least sounded like he knew what he was doing. As with all the other calls, several painful minutes pass and all the more info I had was that he saw in the system it was sent, but no idea when but he thinks I should be getting it real soon. Oh the communication everyone has going here is just WONDERFUL!! Much to my surprise, the UPS guy shows up with the new box! I'm finally learning from these people though and I didn't get too excited, good thing for me. I opened up the box, took out the packing paper and got to the white box inside. As I pick up the box, hmm weird is all I'm thinking, something isn't right. Why is the tape on the box already cut open? Did they seriously just repack the box I had sent back to them? Who would be that brazen? Stay tuned for the rest of the story!!!
2 Sep Continuation of the story.
Yes, they were brazen enough to resend the same box to me and just throw in the same parts bag that I had originally received! So, again I called them back about this. Somehow I managed to talk to the manager this time as it turns out She was actually very helpful and understanding at my frustration. When I told her about how long it took to get the first shipping label and about the box being resent with the same parts bag, I could actually hear the anger in her voice about the service I had received. She didn’t even ask if I wanted a refund, she automatically knew I was done dealing with this and wanted my money back. She worked on the shipping label while on the phone and said I should have it within 25 minutes. Once I got it shipped out, call her back directly to let her know once I saw it had left the UPS store and she would work the refund to get the money back quicker than their 10 day waiting period. Well, I didn’t even have to do that! My wife had got an email from Amazon the next day or at most 2 days later and didn’t know it as she was busy. But it was them letting us know about our refund! But of course, wouldn’t you know it, a hurricane by the name of Irene decided to come knocking on the east coast door. I was al set to order my new camera system but decided to hold off. One reason, would it get here in time before the hurricane? And the second was, if the storm would be that bad, we’d need some extra cash. In the end, everything worked out great! Waited the storm out, which wasn’t that bad for my area. Do feel for the ones that were hit hard both north and south of us though a...

All the wires tucked away nice and neat. Got a cigarette extension, cut off the plug end and ran from the BCM through the firewall. Was able to keep the Sirius plug alone and plugged in. Wire up so it comes on/off with the truck. Not a constant hot by being plugged into the power socket on the dash.

18 nightvision LEDs, looks like day almost! Also has a microphone, can see some plus in having that feature.
