brake line part number

Postby dirtybird819 [OP] » Apr 14 2012, 8:19pm

I was at light felt the pop, petal hit the floor. It blew out left rear side. Looked like just past junction fitting so it might be easy fix. Anyone know if these are prebent lines? Or is all the stuff retro fit?

Another pic. Looks like it might be main line to back. Can I just splice it right b4 it tucks behind my fuel tank?

It cannot be spliced,at least legally.Compression fittings have there place in the repair world, but not on brake lines. That line goes to the ABS module, just in front of your gastank,in the frame rail.relativly easy to replace. The bad thing,is it always leads to one thing after another. You probably should replace the rubber hose too,it will not come apart in one piece.Hopefully,it will come apart at the block on the axle housing. Then you have to deal with the bleeder on the caliper,or wheel cyl, whichever you have.Start spraying all fittings with PB Blaster,or something similiar.Especially the ABS module fittings.
That said,I suggest you look at the rest of the lines. Most likely you will not like what you see.Common problem on these trucks. What I did,is buy a complete set of stainless brake lines, all prebent, with the correct fittings intalled. You can get them from Summit racing,or other vendors. In the long run,it is easier, and probably cheaper. There are different size fittings in the system, and chasing down the adapters, etc, can be time intensive.
The complete set of lines, prebent,STAINLESS,are under 300.And you will never do it again. Been there, done that.
The front lines are tough, where they come down over the framerail,at the front left cabmount. If you are going to keep the truck awhile,it is worth doing

Actually I just spiced it. I followed it up to good line up under the cab almost and flared the ends. Cost $14 to replace it. I haven't had any problems since. I've inspected the rest of the lines and they look good.

That's pretty funny there Kevin. Haha. I'm not dumb nor ignorant, so if ya don't have constructive advice to give then don't give it.

What I do think was funny is that no one chimed in when I was askn for help but when one does and the rest follow?

break line part number

Postby Machster69 » Jun 17 2012, 8:41pm

Actually what happens is your thread gets lost when noone sees it. Someone digs up an old post(idk why) and "bumps" it so it becomes first again. Has 0 to do with people following suite. Im on tapatalk, so it was added on the newest posts made...
