Brakes heating up

Brakes heating up

Postby My06Silverado [OP] » Oct 21 2011, 2:20pm

Hi, I have an 06 silverado z71 that the front brakes heat up on. I can drive around town without a problem but if I go for more than 15-20 miles the brakes heat up. Sometimes its one or the other or both. It has new rotors and brake hoses and the ABS light is not on, but sometimes when its hot the truck shutters like the brakes are pulsing. I think its hard to believe that both calipers are bad. I have tried pulling abs fuse but the brakes still got hot. I dont want keep throwing money at parts that may not work, and hopefully someone has some ideas for me. Thanks for any help

Has anybody made any changes to the brake switch adjustment or any modifications to the brake system?

I'd inspect and lube the pins. Sounds like a caliper is hanging up.

I have checked sliders once and they were fine. Its fine around town but they heat up after 15-20 miles. You would think that if the calipers were sticking that they would do it all the time not only after a certain time. I am stumped.
