replace rear brakeline

Postby woodhog [OP] » Jul 13 2012, 2:04am

I do not know how the brakeline is supposed to be removed. it is next to impossible to physical turn a wrench in that location. Do I need to remove the bed to get access or drop the gastank or what. If I need to remove the bed how can I get the bolts out without breaking them (they are very tight). I have used pb blaster, etc but no help I have used air wrench at full power, no luck. I have twisted bolt to what I think is max , no luck. I have not used a cheater bar but suspect that if i do I might break a bolt.
Any body with experience getting the bed off a 94 silverado 2500 please help me out of this dilema. Hopefully someone can tell me how to without removing the bed. :?:

Do you think you can get the gas tank out easier than taking the bed off? If so, will that give you the clearance you need?

If someone brought this problem to your shop how would you go about replacing that line? I considered dropping the tank first but getting to the fuel lines is somewhat difficult and I don't want to mess up anything. Would appreciate your feedback.

Without actually seeing what I haqd to deal with I would guess it would be easiest to remove the fuel tank to get to them. Can you post a pic or two to give me a better idea exactly how they are run?

you have a couple options. (Im dealing with this same problem right now) use the breaker bar and buy new hardware. torches if you have them. alot of guys were telling me to cut out the old line and run the new one underneath or around the tank. lowering the tank is probably your best option IMO. to get the rear line off the abs unit youll have to pull the four other lines off and bleed the whole system when your done.
