Shaking when brakes applied

Shaking when brakes applied

Postby Buddy Love [OP] » Oct 14 2013, 5:43pm

Hi, after driving at high speeds, lets say about 50 mph or more, and the brake is applied the truck shakes until it comes to a stop. Is this a brake shoe problem or a rotor problem?

Also, I don't think my ebrake is working either.

Probably a rotor issue, does the brake pedal pulsate when braking? Have you looked at the rotors yet?

warped rotor. But if it does it worse if you are driving on the highway for awhile and then stop then your pads or calipers are sticking. Best solution is get some rotors and pads with warranty in case you accidentally warp them again.

If the brake pedal isn't pulsating then the front steering linkage could be at fault, check your tie rod ends, idler arm and pitman arm for play.

The tie rods etc should cause a vibration when you turn the truck a bit and not brake if they are bad. But wild is right that could cause it. Most likely its rotors though.

Anyone know what would cause a hopping in the rear?
