1999 gmc heater box noise is driving me crazy!!please help.

Postby dwillis [OP] » Oct 12 2012, 11:45pm

ok first I have a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500 4x4 NBS.There's a noise coming from the heater box almost like there is a flap constantly cycling open and close.I think it is the flap that opens and closes to let in fresh air or closes when you switch to max ac.it will just do it all the time motor running, not running,ac/heat on or off....if the key is on it is squeeking and making this noise..It'll go all the way one way and stop then just creeeek all the way back the other way then vice-versa....I dont want to tear into the dash only to find out its an external relay or something that I could have fixed without dismantling the whole truck...Any help would be sooo greatly appreciated guys..Thank you in advance!!I wish I could post a sound or video clip....It's driving me batty...haha

still making the noise. It just cycles and cycles.I think i have narrowed it down a bit though. When it starts making the noise I can press the recirculate then the fresh air buttons and it will make what I'm assuming is the recirc door back and forth making a change in the noise...but I have no idea where the switch is for the door or how to begin getting to it to test it.any input? Thanks guys
oh it only changes whats happening when I do the recirc/fresh air buttons even with the hvac switch in the off position wnen its not supposed to be doing anything..If I change any other knob positions to ac,heat, inbetween or floor then vent then defrost there is no affect on the noise it just continuse to cycle..
