Climate Control Issue - Max hot or Max cold

Postby mustangII [OP] » Oct 13 2010, 1:15am

Having issues with an 05 Silverado electronic Climate Control. When the heat is adjusted to max, it works like it`s suppose to blowing hot air on both the passenger and driver`s side. On any other setting, the truck blows cold air on both sides. Checked actuators and there is no in between. They either go max hot or max cold. Any ideas thanks.

Are you saying the fan motor only works max or nothing? If that is the case and with the electronic tempature control it is most likely your blower motor control module, I had the same problem in my trailblazer over the summer. Only the fan would not turn off even with the truck off, I would have to disconnect the battery or pull the fuse.

Unless anyone else chimes in I would say that is the first place to check. For my blazer it ran me about $80 for the part and 10 minutes of install time. Post when you get your problem fixed.

Fan works perfectly fine on all speeds, when temperature selector is set below hot it goes cold. There is no in between avarage temperature.

Not sure what it could be then. Hope you figure it out.

I have the same exact problem with mine. I havent found a solution yet but there are 6 actuators behind the dash if you have dual climate control. But that wasnt the problem with mine. My neighbor is a mechanic and has a software program that is pretty much just a forum for mechanics. Im going to check with him and see if he might be able to help. If so, I will post what i have found

Sounds like it could be the HVAC electronic control unit. Since this post started a month ago, did anyone ever come up with their solution?

just wondering but do you have the stock radio in the truck or did you upgrade to an aftermarket. I've been thinking and realized i dont remember having any issues with my climate control until i had my head unit installed. Since everything seems to be tied together electronically these days i was thinking that somehow the two could be related.? not sure but just an idea

I bet one of your temperature sensors went bad. When I had trouble with another GM product with automatic temp, I just hooked up a scan tool and looked at all the temperature sensors readings. In 5 seconds I observed a sensor that was lying and I changed it. Problem solved!

Would a clogged cabin air filter have anything to do with this problem?
Dang it's hot!

Only the volume of air, not the temperature of it or where it is flowing.
