Heater blend door actuator

Heater blend door actuator

Postby amberlynn [OP] » May 28 2011, 4:19pm

So I have determined that my heater blend door actuator has gone out..but I'm having trouble figuring out the replacement part without ripping it apart first and then ordering it. There is an upper and lower listed..and one is twice as much as the other. I didn't know I had more than one? (: can anyone lend me their knowledge? I'm lost at this point... please and thanks ahead of time

I am not sure about which one you really need I just have to throw in my two cents. This same thing happened to me on my truck. It turned out that passenger kicked out the wire to the actuator. I would check that first. There is a plug underneath the middle of the dash. If it is plugged it try plugging and unplugging it. I doubt you can be as dumb as me though lol. Good luck

You can diagnose them the same way I did mine. Pull it out but leave it plugged in, then flip the temperature controls from hot to cold and back. If it's not moving at all or if its not making a full switch from hot to cold then thats your bad one. Hope this helps!

So my blend door actuator is working properly after testing. I tested the refrigerant and it says its full. All the fuses are good. I can hear the condensor kicking on, although it doesn't sound like its running as long as it should. Any ideas anyone on what else I could look at? It blows warm air..or colder air if its colder outside

Ok so after furthing testing the acutator motor thing was not working, but using the twistie knob (excuse my lousy terminology) I manually closed the door and its still blowing warm..not hot air. Is there more thant one of these things? Does anyone know? My haynes electrical manual doesn't show more than one? Just a recirc and a mdoe one...which thsoe buttons seem to be working fine..

A/c not working - out of troubleshooting ideas

Postby amberlynn [OP] » May 30 2011, 6:03pm

Well when my door is open its hot. When its closed and the a/c is on its warm and not cold... I can't figure out what's wrong. Its full of refrigerant, fuses are good, its blowing air..just not cold air. I have a new actuator coming today but since I manually closed the door and a/c still isn't working I'm thinking that's not the only problem I have

I had the same problem with mine, it ended up being the compressor. I spent about 800 replacing all the AC components

Really? Did you have the same symptoms as mine? Is there any way to test the compressor? My buddy said he thought he heard it kicking on..but maybe not. I'm just running out of components that I know about..in the ac system? (: oh joy. Is this a hard part to replace?

Ok so while my air is still not cold I wanted to update that I brought the part in and the upper and lower actuators looked almost the same..so I bought the 50 dollar one instead of 150 dollar one and it worked. (: so that was exciting..now just to figure out how to get it cold
