Heater Core Leak?

Postby yourpc1596 [OP] » Jun 23 2013, 8:05am

I have a leak at the firewall on the passenger side. Its outside the cab but I am wondering if anyone has had the heater core leak and come out the ac drain or somewhere close. The carpet is dry so I had to ask. Its odd for me to think that a heater core would go out and not get the carpet wet inside. I guess it could happen if it went out the AC drain hole. The truck is a 2003 Silverado 4x4 3/4 ton. Gas V8.
I checked the hoses and behind the sound deadener on the firewall. Nothing showing there while the drips are coming out at the bottom of the firewall.
Also I understand that if I have to replace the core its a big job that includes unhooking the AC connection at the firewall and removing most of the dash assembly. Any advice here would be great.

Thanks... Dale

i did my heater core on my 2001 it was a big job, get a manual if u do it there is a lot of screws, the book says u have to remove the steering column but i did not just unbolted and let set on the seat, and also u have to remove the dash frame i did not i just strapped to the roof, i had about 11 hrs doing it, i could do it faster now maybe 8 or 9. yes u have to unhook the ac, i can do my one ac but if u cant go to where u have it done and talk to them have them remove the refrigerant then do the job and take it back and re-install it.
