heater motor

Postby dandy [OP] » Dec 13 2010, 10:24pm

Can someone tell me why the heater motor won't shut off? Is the problem the heater control or relay etc..? The only way to shut it off is by pulling the fuse out. It won't even shut off with the ignition off. Thanks for the reply!

Others have reported the same issue with 2003 Sierra's.

Most likely your blower motor resistor is shorted and needs to be replaced. It's located under passenger side of dash right next to blower motor.

The blower resistor should cost about $100.00. You can replace it fairly easily and save yourself a bundle.

I took resistor out and called dealer, told them my problem and they said it should'nt be the resistor. They say it would only run on high speed if it would resistor.Made sense to me,so i reinstalled it.I'm thinking climate control .

The climate control is a much more expensive part. I hope its something cheaper!

I'm having the same cold ambient temperature-related problem. My 2006 Silverado has a Service Bulletin (06-01-39-002C) that addresses the issue.

"Mission Accomplished" - for my 2006 Silverado: GM #89018778 (Dealer - $145.00) versus ACDelco #15-80567 (Amazon - $72.42). Dropped fan cover by only removing two outer screws to expose fan motor and motor control module. Reinstalled blower fuse and continuous running problem is fixed.
