Ok. Thanks. Did that, and I can hear (what I assume is) the door moving. There is no ticking, ,and if you can picture twisting the dial from notch to notch ie. cooler to warmer and warmer to cooler, sounds smooth for some changes in the dial, but for others, there is no sound coming from the motor (only for a few of the total dial positions) and others the door sounds like it's opening longer in some positions versus a very short sound for others. It's kinda' like I can picture the wheels turning in the motor and picture the wheels as being gummed up or something; like a shot of WD-40 would help. Anyway, how do I access the motor? I've removed the long section of plastic that covers the floor vents. Where to now?

It sounds like it may be the switch in the dash, since it actually does control the blend door actuator some. Usually if the blend door actuator goes bad, it will just completely stop. Of course, in some vehicles the actual blend door breaks, causing it to either not move at all or have only limited movement (not sure if that is a problem in the silverado's).

The switch in the dash. Ok. That might be it because when I first noticed the problem, it seemed - seemed - like if I moved the dial through a couple of the notches, that it suddenly got a degree or two hotter, but didn't know if I was imagining things or not. And now that I think about it, I had an amp, speakers and sub installed and no doubt the dash had to be removed a couple of times during the process (I had to take it back several times because the speakers weren't balancing correctly). I wonder if the switch got damaged in the process, with it being directly below the stereo and all.

But for anyone reading this, wondering where the blend door actuator is located, here's the link:

Well, at least they are not hard to get to for the drivers side anyhow. I still think it will wind up being the switch assembly on the dash.

Not much headway. Does the 5.3L take longer to warm up then my old 96 Sierra with the 5.7? Also, I had some stereo work done (amp, sub, speakers) and am wondering if that had anything to do with it. I also have no clicking noise when I turn direction signal on, and I also tried 4WD tonight, and it's 50/50 as to whether it will engage and disengage. Could this all be electrical?
