Hot air on passenger side

Postby gray3696 [OP] » Apr 09 2011, 3:08am

I have a manual climate control. Turned the A/C on today and hot air was blowing out of the passenger vents. The air was cold on the drivers side. I recently changed the battery in my truck. Could changing the battery cause my problem? 2005 Silverado 5.3 Z71.

Try cycling your temp control from hot to cold a few times and see if it fixes itself. Did you remove the battery cable with the key on?? Naughty naughty!!

Sounds like we have a similar problem. I have the same truck that you do. I can get in the truck and with out any kind of warning I get full heat and am not able to affect it unless I kill the engine and then fire it back up. My initial thought is that the controller is going south, but I have not had a chance to do any serious digging yet. Have you noticed any other electrical issues? I have noticed that my lights will dim if I am at idle and have a heavy electrical load. Lights will brighten considerably with a higher RPM. Perhaps there is a link. I'll send you an update if I figure anything out this week.

The actuator went bad. I haven't had any more electrical problems. The entire dash had to be taken out to replace the actuator.
