12V cigaret lighter add on

Postby Raffi [OP] » Aug 19 2012, 2:57am

Hey guys, I was thinking about running a hidden 12v plug for my GPS. Do you think it will be safe for me to just tap into the existing cigaret lighter wires. This will only be for the GPS unit. What do you think.

I was just hoping to hide the GPS plug. Have the other one as a spare phone charger. I don't use it as lighter. Do you have a better suggestion

12V cigaret lighter add on

Well, thing about a plug is its bulky...

I always like to wire it to a switch an fuse it. You could buy an add a circuit kit from the auto store and break it on a switch... Regardless make damn sure you fuse the line! Wires are easier to hide also...

I like the fuse Idea. I just wanted to hide the extra wires and that plug. I plan on just hiding it behind every thing and tucking the wires down. Thanks for the advice.

12V cigaret lighter add on

The plug is kinda pointless... Especially if hiding it. Might as well just splice wires in on a fused circuit... I mentioned the add a circuit kit bc it jus makes things clean and easy!
