2003 Silverado Door Wireing.

Postby mevans0486 [OP] » Sep 16 2010, 5:34pm

Hello all,
I have a 2003 Silverado 1500, I found a set of towing power, heated and turn indicator side mirrors that I would like to replace my current power mirrors with. My current mirrors are just power, they do not have the turn indicator or heated. My question is, would the wiring already be in place and just not utilized, or is there a different wiring harness that is ran up the door? Next question is, the description says that it is for a 2500 HD, I would not think there would be a lot of a difference, but would this set still work on my truck? Thank in advance!

P.S Is there a good place to find wiring schematics?

I haven't found a source for wiring diagrams (outside the GM Service Manual). It would help a great deal for what you are trying to do.

Who knows if the turn signal wiring is in there?
It is likely the heater wires are there if you have the defroster in the rear window.

If you can believe what sellers on ebay say, the same Power / Heat / Mirror fits the following years and models:
2003 2004 2005 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500
2003 2004 2005 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500
2003 2004 Silverado / Tahoe / Suburban
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Driver Side
Power, Heated, Manual Folding Mirror
If you want to do what you want to do, you have to do what you have to do.

I do have rear defrost, that is encouraging, I figure if the turn indicator wires are not there, I can run wires for that. Yes that is what I keep seeing to is that, in this body style, they are fit. I just wanted to know, if someone that might have done this, and they can be a bolt on replacement. Thanks for the reply!

The turn signal wires will not be there. I am sure you will have to run your own. Good luck!

Ok, If I have to run my own wires that won't to bad. Can I tap into the rear defroster wiring as well, if there is no wire for that?

You seriously need to tap into a resource (at your dealer?) to get a printout / photocopy of the wiring diagrams you'll need.

I can't imagine trying to do this without one.

Seems like you're treading new territory here - we get to learn from what you find out. Wish we could be more help.

Well I can not find any good wiring diagrams either, that is kinda frustrating. If anyone knows of a good site this for diagrams, I would most appreciate the link! Other wise I may just dig into the door tonight or tomorrow, with a volt meter, and see what is ran.

Ebay, there are a number of styles there, pricing is a little bit high. I do not want to use the add on extension, I do not like the way they look.

It is quite a bit to chew on (this job). Are you sure the juice is worth the squeeze? Before you cut a wire harness, think real hard about purchasing a service manual. I am sure the wiring diagrams are in there.
