2006 Sierra Denali Crew Cab, 6.0L, AWD Won't Start

Postby Firefly [OP] » Jun 28 2011, 8:11pm

The first time this happened was about 4 months ago. The truck would not start after several attempts. Battery was good but not even a click when the key was turned. Checked to make sure it was in park, tried several times (engine was cool at about 70 degrees F outside) but nothing. The next day I got in it and it started immediately. Four months have passed and it has been starting just fine. Yesterday it did the same thing. Not a click when I tried to start it. Hooked up a battery charge and still nothing. This morning it started right up the first time I turned the key... Any ideas on what can cause this? I'm concerned that it will happen when I am away from home and stranded. Thanks for any advice or ideas you may have...

does the security light turn off ? if it flashes then the chip in the key or the exciter ring that read could be going bad .sometimes using your other key will start them up and then help narrow down what is going on. also the starter relay will do the same thing. maybe just stick a new one in and see what happens

I WOULD RATHER HAVE IT AND NOT NEED IT.. THEN NEED IT AND NOT HAVE IT !

Thanks. That is what I think it is as well. I think there is a flat spot on either the fly wheel or the starter gear. I'm wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. It could be a big problem trying to figure out of that is what it is... Thanks again for your reply.
