Check the codes so you can narrow down what the problem is. It will be cheaper than throwing parts at it hoping to fix it.

Yes, they are going to charge you. It will probably still be cheaper than throwing parts at it hoping to fix it.

not sure if you tried this or not but it fixed mine. If my passenger airbag is turned off my airbag light comes on. I took it to the shop and all they did was turn my passenger airbag on and it the light went right out and hasn't been back on. sorry if you already tried this, but i figured it might be a cheap solution.

I don't know what they charge to put it on the scanner, maybe $30 or so.

Re: Air Bag Sensor

I'm in this same boat, with my '06 WT1500. From my non-forum research, it seems I need to replace both front sensors. But neither O'Reilly auto parts nor RockAuto.com lists any airbag sensor nor impact sensor. I'm not going to the local GM stealership unless there's NO other option, as my state won't let me pass the bi-annual safety inspection this way.
I was hoping someone here would know a free solution to get the message and idiot lights to both go away, as I'd rather the airbags never go off. Some years ago I got a face-full of one, never again would be too soon for a repeat.

Not finding any help anywhere, I decided to go find a spare sensor for playing with. I found one from a '91 Camaro I used to own, and I was about to attack it with a DVOM when I noticed it's connector looks similar to what I recall seeing under my pickup.
If it will plug in, I'll try it on each side for a week, to see if the problem will go away. If not, I'll get back to the multi-meter, then open it up.
