Cargo Box LED vs. Perimeter Bed Lighting

What's the difference?

Cargo Box LED vs. Perimeter Bed Lighting

Postby SweetZRag [OP] » Dec 11 2013, 5:19pm

I am about to order a 2014 Silverado High Country with 6.2L and have a question about these 2 bed lighting options listed on the Build Your Own Vehicle web site (http://www.chevrolet.com/silverado-1500 ... x-zipcode=).

Can anybody tell me what the difference between these 2 are? The site allows you to select both.

Perimeter Bed Lighting ($135)

I think the cargo bed lighting is under the rails. It is nice that its factory but from the pics i saw i was a little disappointed in the amount of lights but maybe you can mod a couple more up further which would be extra handy.

Where do you see the perimiter option, i cant find it.

Both of your links seem to reference Perimeter Bed Lighting. I don't see any description for "Cargo Box LED". Did I miss it? On person suggested that you order the truck with the Cargo Box LED lighting option but if you buy the kit from the parts department, it is called Perimeter Bed Lighting. What is confusing is the Perimeter Bed Lighting option is listed as one of the options on the web site (last page before final list is shown).

I am an electrical engineer so modding it is no problem. I just would like to order the correct option since I haven't it ordered yet.
On the Chevrolet web site, if you choose the Build & Price button, the Perimeter Bed Lighting option shows on the last last page before the final configuration is listed. The options I chose were Crew Cab, Standard bed, High Country trim with 4x4.

I best guess would be the cargo box LED is just that light by the third brake light and the parameter lighting is under the rails of the bed? That's just a guess though based on the names…

Forgot to mention how jealous I am! :D

Thanks. I haven't bought a new truck since my 1994 Blazer so I am treating myself. ;-)

The brochure shows the Cargo Box LED lighting under the rail (one on each side) so I don't think it is the one on the high brake light.

For that small amount of money (compared to the total purchase price) check both boxes!

The lights are the same. The $60 dollar version is factory installed and called "Cargo Box LED". The $135 version is called "Perimeter Bed Lighting" and is installed by the dealer/customer. Bu the lights, harness, and hardware are identical. Just installed this on my '14.
