08 silverado crew cab and i am having the same problem. When I loose the chime the 2 front speakers go also. I can however can hear the chime very faintly. Also when the chime and speakers are gone if i hit the on-star button i can bearly hear it, like the door chime. when it comes back everything works fine so i am also thinking its a connection problem.

Any input is appreciated.

Same on my 07. I lost both rear speakers several years ago and recently started loosing the drivers side speaker. When it is out I can hear the chime but it is very faint.
