DIC Install

what does it involve?

DIC Install

Postby oneillt [OP] » Apr 19 2011, 8:50pm

I know they might be a couple of topics already out there, but for some reason the search function isn't working, and DIC is too short of a search term.

Anyway, I have an 04' Sierra SLE. No DIC, no steering wheel controls. All I have is hourmeter, odometer and trip which is toggled by the stem on the cluster. What is the process to make it be able to show all the info? Do i need to install the steering wheel controls or are there other ways? What would i need to purchase?

Don't search for 'DIC' then. Try searching the full definition 'Drivers Information Center' and you'll get plenty of results.

Installed DIC on 2010 Silverado

Upgrade to DIC switch

No, not that I know of. I have a 2004 as well and I don't think it's possible.

Re: DIC Install

Postby Dadio » Oct 29 2011, 3:53pm

Have been contemplating the same thing and found the DIC switch was available from Hendricks Chevrolet online. They list it as being for 2003 to 2008 GMC Sierra. Haven't ordered the part but intend to call them to verify that the switch will work on 2006 and that it includes whatever wiring would be needed to interact with the trucks computer. The owners manual indicates the capability exists but only with The Allison automatic transmission. If it's possible to install in my manual tranny truck will post it here.
