Door open, DING/CHIME OFF, Radio ON

Postby Machster69 [OP] » Aug 09 2012, 11:01pm

I dont really know why I have not thought of this yet BUT!

Currently there is no way to eliminate the chime/ding without going aftermarket or cutting the speaker wire(or switching it and toggling off). My truck will chime when the key is on and the door is open... but what if im cleaning my truck in and out of it! I want my radio on with NO CHIME! Ok well.. ive decided it is going to be similar to the "cargo light mod" principle. Instead of using the key to turn the ignition on, I plan to run a hot wire to the radio after the BCM and junction(this way the truck wont even know the radio is on) and toggle it via a switch... Im going to have to research the schematics a bit to find which wire is appropriate to tie into, anyone know it off hand? And anyone tried this? basically, the radio will just be toggled to power without the key even in... anyone know this wont work before I invest time?

I remember something on here about just pulling a fuse to stop the chime. It was on the inside drivers side fuse box. I'll see if I can find it..............

I'm not a fan of that chime either... Kyle, what manual is that diagram from? It's a little hard to see from a phone photo...

In to see if anything comes out of this idea.

Door open, DING/CHIME OFF, Radio ON

Postby Machster69 [OP] » Aug 10 2012, 12:16am

So im thinking the DK/GRN from the computer data line is the "switch"... Now ima try and find it and check its voltage(bet its freaking 5volt)

Thats the schematic in the back of my haynes book

Revolting development boys... my diagram was not exactly 100%....(there is a good chance im actually just reading it wrong)

I tested the DK/GRN(or what i think is the DK/GRN) and got 2.1-2.4 volts when key was on, it stayed on for few seconds after key off, then lost power... so im not sure if that is the "switch" or what!

There was also the antenna and another cable type wire that I couldnt identify going into the back of the radio...

If you look at the diagram, it shows a radio, and digital radio receiver... Idk the difference?
