Electrical issue; BCM problem or loose ground ?

Postby cops_263 [OP] » Dec 05 2011, 2:46am

I have a 2004 Silverado 2500 HD. I recently noticed that every time my wipers activate or I have them on delay my rearview mirror compass and temp as well as the power to it reset or turn off then back on, this doesn t happen all the time but most of the time and usually when its wet outside, I do not have rain sensors on the truck either. Just recently I am now having problems with my door locks activating everytime I shift out of park. I have a DIC instrument panel (Driver Information Center), and had it set for the doors to lock out of park and the driver door to unlock when put back into park. Now, when I shift into any gear the door locks lock and unlock, which never happened before and my shift display goes all the way the the 1 indicator then back to the gear that I am in, and my neutral indicator line is not working . :x , does any one know what is going on with this, worked fine for the past 6 months since I bought the truck until now, with the exception of my reminder "dingger" going off after I take my key out every once in a while. Please help with this, it sounds like an expensive repair.

Sounds like it may possibly be an ignition switch problem, however, your symptoms are kinda all over the place.

You'd be surprised how much is tied into the ignition

Almost everything is controlled by the ignition (at least in some way, if not directly). That was the only common denominator I could think of for all his symptoms.

OK just got truck back from dealership paid 178.00 to have ignition switch replaced so far so good. Tech said mirror issue could be interference from my wipers? Says his mirror has done that since day one! ? Whatever. Will keep you posted since it hasn't rained yet. One more thing when I took it into shop everything worked fine after I saw security alarm light flash on my cluster

no problem however it hasnt rained yet and thats when alot of my problems occur I will let ya know how things go and thanks for the help. That interference thing was a weird explaination from the tech dont you think ? wouldnt it have done it all the time if that what it was ? If it was a problem with the BCM anyway to test at home ?
