Gear indicator light is dim

Gear indicator light is dim

Postby Jester [OP] » Oct 10 2011, 10:17pm

So when I got my truck in April, I knew the gear shift light was dim and hard to read. As well as the stepper motors needing to be replaced. So I have a few questions.

1. If I replace the steppers, will I need to make sure the gauge needles are put back at the same spot as when I took them out or will they work automatically?

2. How can I change out the shift indicator light?

3. Would it be cheaper to just buy a re-manufactured cluster off ebay with new motors and working light?

Thanks!

i would think a remanufactured gauge cluster would be cheaper(what about junk yards?).

Have to have it reprogrammed to my truck. Something to do with the VIN and odometer reading.
