So I went out Christmas eve with my wife shopping and when honking my horn at some moron for almost hitting me, my horn just stopped working. Now I checked my horn relay fuse, but dont know how to verify whether the relay is bad or the actuator in the steering wheel is bad. Now its just a simple relay fuse i could swap one from another location out, but I need my truck to get back and forth to work and nobody around here carries those particular fuses. And I mean Nobody, Autozone/Advanced/NAPA. Is there any way to check if thats the reason for the horn not working.
There are 2 fuse boxes, one under the hood that has your relays and some fuses and then there is one on the side of the dash board when you open up the drivers side door. According to my Hanes manual both the fuse and relay should be in the under hood fuse box
Horn is working. For some reason I missed the other 15a fuse under the hood fuse panel. I replaced it with a 20a and horns working. Dont I feel like an idiot.
Take a test light and with a helper see if you are getting power to the wire at the horn. If not, continue checking the horn circuit. If you are, it's simply a bad horn.
