How can I disable the drl on my 11 Sierra? I saw something about pulling a fuse once but not sure. If it is that simple wheres the fuse located? Does the fuse supply any other controls? Will my automatic headlights still work?
Thanks

there are 2 fuses under the hood pull them and yes your auto headlights will still work! and the DRL fuse only powers the DRL's nothing else

yes 31 and 33. take the fuse box cover off they also tell you what the fuses are under the lid also with a picture

I ended up doing it too. Works great! I assume you did this 'cause you are running HID's?

Came across this forum via a Google search on how to do this for my 08 Sierra Denali and while it works mint (thanks) I noticed it seems to disable the memory seat switches on my driver's side door...not the lumbar support bladder, but just the memory seat switches as well as the exit assist where the seat moves back for you to get in and out....

I have no issues. The DRL's are off and everything else works, including wiper delay and memory seat.
Double check those fuse numbers...

Interesting approach. Where is the relay? Also, could that keep the low beams from coming on at all? (Excuse my ignorance, I am definitely not an expert on the electrical aspects of these trucks).

Honestly. I understand the HID thing but why disconnect it? just to save a few hours of bulb life when you might save a life when using them?
My old truck didn't have them and people never seem to see me but now I dont see as many people pulling in front of me. Motorcycles are the worse. They say we need to look out for them but when you ride like the idiots here how can you. 120 in heavy traffic does not warrant my respect.

I have been trying to turn off my DRL because not only saves the life of the bulb, but also saves your battery and the alternator. Believe it if the only issue was saving the bulb I wouldn' bother. I know when is dark and also when there is no need to be blinding other motorists,
bottom line is I've tryed it and did not help.

Thanks for the follow up guys. I will double check...but I do know both by Hi Beam DRLs are off....and I pulled the two fuses I was supposed to...I will reinsert and see if both the memory seat function and wiper delay work or if something else is somehow up at the same time....and I will look for the DRL relay.

My personal take...I would love the DRLs if they were the Marker Lights...like on the Malibu or Corvette....I replaced mine w/silverstar 3157s and they look sweet, but the Hi Beeam....I hate those as my DRLS....for whatever reason. ;-)

Wait a minute....
You have the new body style, right? Then the DRL should be the low beam. Basically, the DRL is the low beam operating at about 9 volts, rather than 12 volts.
It's definitely not the high beam. We should be so lucky that it would be the high beams, or the marker lights. I could live with those, and then there would be no need for a relay, fuse pulling, or anything.

Yes, you are correct...NBS (New Body Style) started in 07 I believe with the Denalis having dual models while they blew out the old styles, but I know all the 08 Sierra Denalis are NBS for sure...and mine is.

I always thought they were HI Beam...but yeah, now that you say it that would be MUCH better than low beam b/c of the less use, etc.

I have Hoen lights in mine so NOT cheap and I definitely want to save them the extra use of the DRL function...and I am thinking of going with Anzo Projector Beam Lights which take all H Series bulbs...and on top of that thinking of going HID for Low Beams too....so more of a reason to get this DRL BS figured out if I can do it and not loose out on features such as Wiper Delay, etc....

Well, maybe try that suggestion about removing the relay. It seems like it would work. I am still surprised you are having issues since pulling the fuses.

Also, Hoen are really good bulbs. I had them in my Colorado, and they lasted forever. I put a set in my Sierra (low beams) but they burned out really quick. My guess is it was because they are not stable running on the lower voltage.

So I plugged the two fuses 31 and 33 I believe...back in and the DRLs are back on at start, my driver's seat does the exit assist now where it moves back and forward for you getting in and out of the truck, but the wiper delays don't work still...I know the Denali has some kind of rain sensor so I even had my wife spray the windshied w/the hose and nothing....but one wipe after like 30 seconds on one of the incremental settings...so that will be a dealer thing to check out.

In the mean time I snapped some pics of the two fuse panels...b/c for the life of me I cannot discern what the heck the DRL relay is labeled as....so please chime in...

never feel sorry for a man with a plane, named boat, or one with a memory seat with exit assist.....
