newbie need help fast tail light not working

Postby hondarancher4435 [OP] » Jan 18 2012, 3:22am

this is my first post i have a problem i need to resolve fast so i can get my truck i just bought inspected. its an 08 1500 ext cab long bed LS 4x4.

my problem is my passenger side tail light does not work only the tail light function doesnt work which also includes the passenger side license plate light not working as it is tied in to the tail light function. the brake, turn, and reverse lights work fine on that same side and the driver side tailight works just like it should.

i have so far ruled out that the sockets are fine the bulbs are brand new i narrowed it down and was sure that it was the circuit board under the bed that controls all tailight functions so i replaced it and no luck same results.

i tried to find the fuse for the passenger taillight but only found the one for brake and turn i was going to check to see if i had power there.

my cel is on throwing 2 codes one for ignition circuit 1 low voltage not sure what that means and a p069e the flag code for the fscm

Check your ground wires. It sounds like you are not getting a good ground.

I'm not sure of their exact locations on your truck. Take the lamp assembly out and look and see if you notice any wires that are bolted directly to the body. Also look under the bed and see if you see any volted directly to the body or frame.

I messed with the light yesterday checked the ground and it was good supplied power and they lit up then went up and checked every fuse and I pulled the two gray handles up and lifted the top of the underwood fuse panel off to look for any damaged wires then I look back and the tail light was on so I guess there was a loose or corroded conection I wiggled

So the light works but when I was putting the fuse panel back on and it was very cold out and I managed to break both grey handles that lock the fuse panel down hopefully I can find some or il have to buy a fuse box
