New member. Found unknown button on used truck.

Postby IanDbeast [OP] » May 02 2011, 2:08am

Hey guys, I just joined the forums.
I'm 17 and got my 2000 silverado 2wd 5.3L almost a year ago.
I just now found this button and I have no idea what it is for. I am guessing it is for the viper alarm system that was semi installed when I got the truck. I guess when the guy sold the truck he took most of the system out. (It still has the antenna, horn and some other small parts)
ANYWAY. PLEASE help me identify this button. I am very curious... Thanks in advance :)

Where did ya buy the truck? If it was from an individual, call them and ask what it was for. If from a dealer, they would have records of the previous owner.
It's quite possible it's for an alarm. But people put in momentary switches for lots of things. So, you never know.
Another thought is to follow the wiring, to see where it leads.

Be careful! That might be an unfinished project or something. Maybe he put the ejector seat in but never got around to installing the sunroof.

I'd recommend you follow the wiring to see if it goes anywhere.

Yes it's a Valet button. Who ever sold you the truck is going to wish he took all those little parts with him. When they go to reinstall the alarm on a new car all those parts will add up quick in cost.

def a valet button, and since he left all the crap in there find out whats missing, if its just the brain, you might be able to get one for cheap, but i like the ejector seat idea, haha!
