No high beams???

No high beams???

Postby GP_RZ [OP] » Dec 29 2011, 1:43am

My high beams stopped working like they should on my 2008 Sierra, they only work if i pull back on the lever, not if I push it forward like normal, is there a switch that can be replaced?? if so where is it?

It does sound like the switch is either faulty, or possibly a loose connection. Not 100% sure how it connects, but it's probably contained within the steering column, under the outer cover. You may want to consult a repair manual to show you what to remove. I think every truck owner should have a good repair manual, for times liek this. They are worth the lousy $25..

No high beams???

Postby Bigredchev » Dec 29 2011, 5:36am

The high beam switch is part of the multifunction switch behind the steering wheel under the cover. The multifunction switch is the turn signal, flasher, wiper, and high beam switch in one. There may or may not be tamper proof screws holding the cover on the column. Have not had newer one apart, but is not usually that hard to take apart. Not sure on price, but are usually pretty high.

Bigredchev is correct. You need to replace the combination switch.

Thanks for the info guys, well I went out last night and tried it and it worked, now I am just wondering if the switch is on the way out, well time will tell I guess, I really like this truck but I do not like the troubles I have had since july, Drivers side speaker does not work, drivers side power door lock is intermittent and now this problem with the high beam switch!

The switch probably has a loose connection inside that works intermittently.

OK well never ended up putting in the combo switch as it seems to be a different problem, in the day light if I cover the sensor on the dash and wait a few seconds my dash lights dim and high beams work? whats all hooked up to that sensor?? thats seems to be my problem now!

It sounds like your DRL's were on and that is why the high beams did not work. You did not have the headlights turned on it sounds like.
