OEM Remote Start

OEM Remote Start

Postby mramirez23 [OP] » Jul 26 2011, 4:03am

After reading all the posts about retrofitting remote start on your truck I decided to take the plunge. My truck has the AP8 code in the glove box, so I bought a couple of OEM keyfobs that include the remote start button. I called my dealer and they told me it was $120 to reprogram the truck with code.

My appointment is Thursday morning and I'm anxiously waiting. I'll post an update once the deed has been completed.

Silver,
Your in Phoenix and you don't have remote start? Get that truck in and get one installed. It's way to hot out that way.

Are you saying that all you needed was the key fob and re-programming? The truck came with whatever else it needed from the factory. I have a 2011 sierra, what code would I need to have to get factory remote start?

From what I have read if you have the AP8 code in your glove you just need the remote and then the dealer can flash your ECM and it will work.

Yup, all you need is code AP8 in your glove box, ECM reprogrammed and a code download.

I don't have the AP8 so I guess I will have to do aftermarket. I would have liked to have had only one key fob.
