oil pressure quage

oil pressure quage

Postby peonleon2 [OP] » Jul 17 2011, 8:16am

i hope that i am posting this in the right section,
I have a 2003 chevy silverado, 1500 4x4
I am having a issue with the oil pressure guage.
The guage is not going back down to 0 when the truck is off, it will sit around 40. So when the car is on it goes to about 80. It not a huge issue, but i would like to get if fixed.
any help is much appreciated.

sounds to me like the signal wire is shorted. pull the connector off the sensor and see what the gauge reads, if it goes to zero then i would replace the sensor if it stays at 40 start tracing the wires back to the computer, one may be worn or melted to another wire.

Your instrument cluster could be going bad, those years trucks had the bad stepper motors.
