power window stops working.

power window stops working.

Postby KSpain [OP] » Jan 10 2012, 5:20am

I have a 2010 Silverado crew cab. Every now and then my driver side power window button doesn't work. I'll have to play with it for about a minute then it works. Its still under warranty but when I take it in i'm sure I'm not going to have the problem. They'll think I'm crazy like the last time I went in there with a problem. Just wondering of anyone else had any issues. Thanks

First Take a video of your truck experiencing the problem. Make sure the video shows a feature of your truck that they know it is your truck, like the vin number on the door. Then take it into the dealer and explain the problem but don't show the video unless you have to. If they take it in and later call you and say it doesn't do it, show them the video and leave the truck with them. Sound like a plan?

Thanks. I'll have to try that. 30000 miles on the truck and i already had to have my radio replaced. I'm scared of what other electrical problems I'll have after my warranty is up. They probably made my truck on a Friday. No to mention a rear main seal leak already.

If you have left the window down in the rain or have gotten water in the door panel, then you can get a bad spot in the window motor. somewhat like a starter intermittently not working.

power window stops working.

Postby Ghstface » Jan 11 2012, 4:33pm

That actually happened on my truck as well. You would have to play with the window buttons to make them go down and when they did go down it wouldn't happen smoothly, the window would stop and go. I had a faulty drivers side window control, they just swapped it out for a new one and I was good to go. This seems to be common on some of the new gen Silverado's. If the dealer gives you a hard time do it yourself, it's an easy fix.

My 08 sierra does that, as well as driver side door lock works when it wants....oh and the speaker in the driver side work when it wants, and the high beams only work at night, but if i cover the sensor on the dash they will work! Boy I thought my old Dakota had electrical bugs!
