Hi everybody, I am new in this, i have been looking for answers to my problem and luckily I found this forum .
Recently I bought a Silverado 1500 mod.2008, but not from an agency, i did it directly from a private person. When I arrived home I notice that the low beam lights didn't work , I went to an electrical service shop for repairing them but they did a terrible thing, they short circuit the fuse box from the panel in order to check the signal, but just after that, the truck didn't want to start any more. When you turn the key, you can hear the engine cranking, but it never start. The guy from the shop is telling me that that problem is not electric, but I am sure that he is lying and trying to cover his mistake. Any way, I checked by myself all the fuses, but they seem fine. I hope somebody here in the forum can help me, thanks in advance ......

So the guy did that and basically walked away? Is the truck still on his property? WTF! Did you talk to the owner? Does your state have an office at the secretary of state office with people who investigate these auto repair shops? Talk to them and Call the better business bureau. Or call a lawyer................geez. Check the fuses again with a test light. I bet he blew one of the main ones. When you turn your key on, does the service engine soon light come on?

Yeah, definitely would report him. Bite the bullet for now and take it to a dealer or a reputable shop, one that guarantees the work they do.

1.- Basically yes, he told me he can't do anything for me because he thinks the problem is not electric, 2.- I took my truck back home in a tow dolly . 3.- I talked to the original owner of the truck, he told me that, the light problem was not present when he sell the truck to me, but i was really stupid and I didn't check it (because I bought it at day, with day light), and I forgot about the lights, so he can't do anything for me. 4.- I am in Mexico, laws are a complicated thing here It will take years before I can solve this case in a court.....
I checked again with the test light, all fuses are ok. When I turn the key all the lights in the console seems ok, just like before the problem. But still only the cranking motor is working and I suppose there is no fuel injection. Maybe he destroy the ECM of the truck, I will inform any advance, but any other info will be appreciated. thanks.

I've seen relays go bad in these, he may have swapped the pcm relay or injector relay for the headlight relay to see if that would fix the headlights. Try swapping non-essentials like a/c, horn for pcm, etc. Also check the orientation. The writing should all be in the same direction. You can put them in backwards, but they won't do squat.

Go to a dealer.
