Speakers only works when it's hot outside!?

Postby mrk12345 [OP] » Jun 25 2012, 2:59pm

My radio powers on all the time. But only 1 speaker works UNLESS the outside temp is above 90 degrees. When it gets real hot outside all the speakers have sound in them. My 2007 Silverado has had one other electrical issue, the passenger side window can be rolled down from the driver side but not rolled up. Any suggestions on where to start on troubleshooting this speaker deal?

thanks!

id guess your deck has a cold solder joint, when it gets hot enough it softens the solder enough that it makes connection.

Thanks, would replacing the deck also remedy the issue?

Speakers only works when it's hot outside!?

Only if the cold joint/bad connection was at the deck...most likely has to do with expansion of the connection vs softening of the solder.

I agree, this sounds like an expansion and contraction issue. I had something similar happen on an old work truck, turned out to be a connection in a wiring harness.
