When you put the truck in reverse does it give you an error on the dash? There should be a button also that controls it (had an 07 Avalanche LTZ and mine was under the heater controls). Does it beep at all when in reverse?

Are any of these conditions present

If the URPA system will not activate due to a temporary
condition, the message PARKING ASSIST OFF will be
displayed on the DIC and a red light will be shown on the
rear URPA display when the shift lever is moved into
R (Reverse). This occurs under the following conditions:
• The driver disables the system.
• The parking brake pedal is depressed.
• The ultrasonic sensors are not clean. Keep the
vehicle’s rear bumper free of mud, dirt, snow, ice and
slush. For cleaning instructions, see Washing Your
Vehicle on page 5-118.
• A trailer was attached to the vehicle, or a bicycle or
an object was hanging out of the tailgate during the
last drive cycle, the red light may illuminate in the
rear display. Once the attached object is removed,
URPA will return to normal operation.
• A tow bar is attached to the vehicle.
• The vehicle’s bumper is damaged. Take the vehicle
to your dealer/retailer to repair the system.
• Other conditions may affect system performance,
such as vibrations from a jackhammer or the
compression of air brakes on a very large truck.
If the system is still disabled, after driving forward at
least 15 mph (25 km/h), take the vehicle to your
dealer/retailer.

Thanks for your reply. A red light comes on briefly when the truck is put into reverse but after that no lights orbeeps. I have made sure that the disengage button is not activated but see no Cid indications of a problem. I don't have a trailer hitch on right now. Is there a sensor problem with the system?

If there was a sensor problem it would say service park assist (at least mine did when I broke my sensor). I am not sure whats up, hope someone with little more mechanical knowledge steps in.

Bringing one back from the dead but I started having sensor problems today. System said park assist off and there was no reason. No ice, didn't look dirty, no trailer... So I cleared and when I was in reverse it would throw all 3 lights every once in a while and beep. Decided to clean the sensors anyway and used rubbing alcohol and it works! Fingers crossed that it's actually fixed.
