Will turn over but dies after a second or two

Will turn over but dies after a second or two

1993 Chevy Silverado
4x4 350, 188.000 miles

It will turn over but dies after a second or two, I can start it right back up again and it dies, eventually it will start and stay started, the colder it is the more I have to start it, in 5-10 degree weather it takes about 10 minutes of starting, once warm it will start every time.
No check engine light, over the summer for other reasons I've replaced the EGR valve, TPS, plugs, wires, alternator, Distributor shaft, battery, checked the fuel pump (Its fine), ignition switch. it had this problem last winter, and I was hoping that one of the many things I fixed during the summer would fix this but that wasn't the case.
Also recently the starter finally gave up the ghost and I'm replacing that already.
Any suggestions as to what I should try next? Its hard on the starter and battery to do this and just plain annoying to spend 10 minutes in the cold trying to start it.

it could be the engine coolant temp sensor. it could be causing the issue. i know when they go bad it can cause a vehicle not to want to start hardly at all and run really rich. a quick test that you could do is unplug the sensor (this will cause the SES light to turn on) and try and start your truck up. the ECT is located next to the thermostat housing.

would an O2 sensor cause that? I know they can cause severe erratic idle when cold and missing when accelerating..im not sure if it would cause it to start hard though

it is a possibility koolz...
but if i am not mistaken even on the older computers when you first start a vehicle up the computer stays in closed loop running off of preset parameters untill the computer sees a certain temperature during this time the vehicle uses very minimal as far as sensors and this time line set by the computer the vehicles tend to run rich the kicker to my response is i am not sure what all sensors the computer relies on i know temp, and the MAP.

but an easy way to test the o2 is to disconnect it and see if she fires up and runs cold. also check your IAC and clean it and the passages they can cause some really odd issues..

you could also check the oil pressure switch/sender i know on some cars and trucks when it reads a low oik pressure it wont let the engine run... its worth a try. andvance auto parts part number s4269p and it is around 30 bucks. good luck
