won't start

Postby SilverFox [OP] » Sep 23 2011, 3:38am

My 91 Silverado had been sitting for a couple of weeks when I got in it and it just made a clicking noise. To me it sounds like a solenoid problem but my battery is almost drained I am guessing from that stupid (Canadian)immobilizer they made me have installed years ago.I tried jumping it and it still wouldn't start -- sounded the same just louder !!! I checked the battery cables and found one a little bit loose but was unable to tighten it as it had been worked over before and was almost stripped.I am guessing I will have to fix this grounding cable to fix this problem. Is there anything I might have overlooked----It got dark so I will wait till morning to get back at it. Thanks---I had to jump it before when I left it for weeks but it always started!!!!

Sounds like the battery was so far drained it was beyond jumping. Try hooking it up to a charger for an hour or so and try it. Also, how old is the battery? Might be time for a new one of those as well.

I would trickle charge it for a day or so and when you take the charger off, also jump it. If that doesnt work the battery is shot and I would start with a new battery.
