4.1L L6 Vacuum System

Postby 83highsierra [OP] » Jun 08 2011, 10:06pm

ok so i bought the truck a couple days ago its a 83 gmc high sierra 2wd with a 4.1 inline 6

dilemma one when you go to step down on gas hard it will not take off you have to bring the gas pedal back up and then it will take off and pick up speed but i also have to manually shift the auto trans otherwise it shifts to the highest gear and sort of floods it
my dilemma is the guy i got it from had a new carb put on it and i was just informed alot of vacuum lines are missing. i tried a chiltons and haynes but they dont have diagrhams for the vaccum system and i tried googleing and nothing so if someone with same motor could please show me in photos or video how it routes the vacuum lines from the right side of carb to the choke and the small piece on the air breather also on left side of motor their is a small orange valve whats connects to it thanks in advance

4.1L L6 Vacuum System

I think you are going to have a very hard time tracking anyone down with an 83 gmc especially with a 6er. There is a vacuum modulator on the transmission that should be connected by hardline to the carb, it may be disconnected or defective.
