I have a gmc sierra 2500 6.5l turbo diesel i have just recently been having a problem with what i think may be fuel dilivery and I have changed my fuel filter that was my first though any way its mostly when Im going up hill and at about 30-35 mph I have a huge loss in power and the truck sputters and hardly makes it up, any idea?im new to diesel but am doin my best to learn it and figure it out
I had thought about that but it runs fine under 35 and its not all the time also I checked my headers with a temp gun and they are all putting out about the same however I will pull them and check them to be sure I really apprishiate the imput thanks
This may sound silly, but oil pump maybe. Maybe some diesel guys will chime in, but I had a 94 6.5L and when pulling the race car I experienced a similar problem. Only under heavy load. It was the oil pump.
Hmm that seems odd but then again I've had wierder problems, did it change your oil pressure at all (did your oil guage change) I'm guessing yours was a diesel? That would be nice considering its a $30 part
Yes, Id notice the oil pressure dropping and then she'd fall on her face. Get to the top of the hill, and it seemed to be like normal. Did this year truck have the "reduce power" protection? I know the newer trucks kill engine power to protect from damage when something is going wrong.
I thought about the injection pump to but wouldn't that make the same thing happen on flat land to? Ya I thought have any drop in oil pressure at all. And I'm 90% this year did not its pre obd 2 96 and down is
Tps sensor you could be on the right track. My 93 k2500 gasser does all sorts of strange things when thats shot. Also it may "reduce power production " like voodoo had mentioned.
Rreplace the fuel pump. It should be located on the inside of drivers side frame rail
